Top To-Do List Apps

I use the Reminders app, but I’ve found a few other alternatives that work well for scheduling tasks. These apps allow for creating lists and setting tasks with due dates. I’ll also mention some additional features that can be particularly useful on these apps.

Microsoft To Do

iOS and Android

This app is currently free and includes great task management features, which includes the creation of subtasks. Files can also be attached to tasks.

Todoist

iOS and Android

This app integrates well with a few other applications for easy scheduling. Examples include;  gmail, slack, teams, and google chrome. Audio comments, files and photos can also be added to tasks.

Tick Tick

iOS and Android

This app has a Pomo timer feature. It also includes an Achievements and Statistics section which measures and compares your task completion rates in order to increase productivity. The app has great themes to choose from as well.

It’s important to keep in mind that the best task scheduling app for you will depend on your personal preferences and needs, so it’s worth trying out a few different options to see which one works best for you.

Alternatives To Reminder Apps

Now let’s explore other alternative tools that can help you schedule and manage your tasks in a more effective way.

The good old To-Do list

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Crossing out tasks on a notebook might not be the In thing, but it’s not outdated either. Some people like the simplicity of it and others enjoy the act of physically striking out completed tasks. This is still a great way to manage tasks and it’s pretty cost effective too. Notes apps are also a good alternative and have easy ways to strike out or complete items on a list.

Boards

Do you like viewing your tasks on a larger scale? Or having everyone view it in a company or in your home? Boards give a simple way of satisfying this desire. White boards, chalk boards or letter boards could work.

Sticky notes

Another fun way of noting down tasks and removing them once complete. All you need is quality sticky notes and a good surface to stick them on. There are even some good sticky note apps out there. E.g. Sticky widgets.

Calendars

Both physical calendars and the calendar app on phones can be useful for scheduling tasks. I used a large dry-erase calendar throughout university and was able to stay on schedule. I color-coordinated tasks based on their level of importance, which helped a lot. Calendar apps also provide a way to schedule events on specific days.

There are plenty of other tools available that could be more effective than Reminder Apps, but these should provide a solid starting point for your exploration.
